- Minutes of the Annual General Meeting of 2009 were adopted. Moved by Michael Rogers, seconded by Michael Foster. Carried.
- The president’s report, presented by Michael Rogers, was adopted. Moved by Larry Leonard, seconded by Tyler Dobie. Carried. Michael reported that KIN is in good shape financially, with 202 subscribers. There were a few serious hardware issues during the year, but the primary concern is internet use and how to meet subscriber demand. Also of concern is the need for more active volunteers. He announced his decision to step down as President and Chairman in order to work solely on the technical side of things
- The financial report was presented by Harvey Armstrong. He spoke of the need for KIN to be self-financing, stated that further grant income is unlikely and that the amount set aside for infrastructure and contingencies is slowly increasing. He said that KIN is in a solid position. Also that the lifespan of equipment is uncertain. Thanks to Harvey for clearing up the books and to Denise Kyler-Funk for her work as bookkeeper. Moved by Tyler Dobie, seconded by Michael Rogers that the report be adopted. Carried.
- The engineering report was presented by Rob McLennan. KIN can now measure and monitor throughput per client. 90% of customers use under 10GB per month; 10% use more. Overage will now be charged at $2 per GB per month. The direct cost to KIN per client is now $27; the cap is $30. Towers at Argenta and Fletcher Creek are planned for 2010. Michael Rogers moved that the report be adopted, seconded by Larry Leonard. Carried.
- Overages Explained was presented by Tyler Dobie. KIN customers are sharing a finite network. We are working to make the whole network work better and to do that, we need to curtail heavy use. In the interests of fairness and to cover KIN costs, usage over 10 GB per month will be charged at $2 per GB per month per client. Use has increased significantly since April 2009. In future, customers will be able to monitor their own usage. There was a lengthy question and answer session about the subject of usage and the functioning of the network .
- Election of Board Members. The following directors were elected by acclamation: Harvey Armstrong, Larry Leonard, Michael Rogers, Tyler Dobie, Rob McLennan, Michael Foster, Don Scarlett, Debra Hamilton, Don Edwards. Moved by Michael Rogers, seconded by Larry Leonard. Carried.
- It was noted that KIN needs better communications with clients.
- Larry Leonard and Al Smith will work on updating the lardeauvalley.com webpage.
- Meeting adjourned at 2:30 pm
